My name is Claire Henson and I am a mental health trainer, programme manager and the founder of Mind Map Nottingham. Mind Map is an online community which looks at how public spaces can be made more accessible to people living with anxiety. The aim is to create an online space, detailing venues and businesses across Nottingham and support they might be able to provide people navigating public spaces whilst living with anxiety. This online space includes a directory of organisations signed up to be part of the network with all their details and a Google Maps layer that directs people to the venue. Venues will also display in their window a Mind Map sticker to show they are part of the network. More information about the programme can be viewed here:
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, I’ve had to rethink how Mind Map might work. As businesses begin to reopen, creating spaces for people to feel calmer is still important, but even more so is getting information about how businesses are reopening and how people interact with the businesses within the safety parameters. So, whilst businesses are trialling safety methods within their venues, Mind Map is looking to assist in sharing this information via our social media channels and help people to feel more comfortable accessing public spaces after the easing of lockdown restrictions. I’m currently in talks with different venues in the city centre who are really interested in being part of the programme and will have an update on this shortly.
If you are interested in how Mind Map can work for you, how you can sign up to be part of the network or anything else, I'd love to hear from you.
